Who hasn’t grabbed a box of KD when getting the munchies? For $2, not many snacks beat it. It does get a little boring from time to time. To spruce up the classic KD Mac & Cheese, we’re going to add some protein and spice to mix.

Step 1) While the water is boiling, pan fry some chorizo, or another protein/sausage of your choice. Adding it to your meal not only makes it tastier, but the added protein makes it somewhat nutritious. Feel free to add some chopped veggies into the mix as well.

Step 2) Once the chorizo is fried, and the KD is done, add them together and stir them together with Sriracha hot sauce. If you feel like getting fancy, a bit of chopped green onion on top never hurt.

2. Caramelized Onion and Cheese Hot Dog

Ingredients

  1. Red onions
  2. Butter
  3. Hot dogs
  4. Grated cheese

Cook Time

Just like Mac and Cheese, hot dogs are quick and easy to make. Sure, hot dogs by themselves are great, but that’s not what this article is about.

For this recipe, all you’re going to need is butter, onions and your favourite cheese.

Step 1) Start by melting the butter in a frying pan on medium-low heat.

Step 2) Soon as the butter is melted and bubbly, caramelize the onions. Doing so brings out the flavour of the onions and easier to place on the hot dog.

Step 3) Just as the hot dogs finish and the onions are about ready to go, place the shredded cheese on the hot dog and lay the onions on top.

Step 1) You want to start by bringing a pan to heat on medium-low. Feel free to use butter or cooking oil so they don’t stick.

Step 2) Next is to turn the banana to mush. A fork or mashed potato press work.

Step 3) Once the banana looks like baby food (yum), crack the eggs and whisk the mixture together.

Step 4) After the pan is hot, pour the baby food mixture as you would for pancakes when the pancake starts to bubble flip it over.

4. Nachos Supreme

Ingredients

  1. 1 Bag of Nacho Chips
  2. Salsa
  3. Extra Lean Ground Beef or Turkey
  4. Red Peppers
  5. Tomatoes
  6. Onions
  7. Marble Cheese
  8. Jalapenos

Cook Time

Method

Ah, melted cheese, salsa and chips, what could be better than that? How about instead of just throwing some cheese and chips into the oven, we make a proper Nachos Supreme!

Before getting started, you must know it’s all about the layers. Layers make the world go round when it comes to making nachos. Now that we have that out of the way, time to begin.

Step 1) First, you need to set the oven to 325°C and bring a large pan to temperature on medium heat. A little bit of cooking oil is preferred. Not too much, though, the fat in the meat assists the cooking process.

Step 2) Excluding the tomatoes and jalapenos, dice the veggies and get them ready for cooking.

Step 3) Soon as the pan is hot, throw in the meat and separate it if need be. Give it a couple of minutes and then add the vegetables.

Step 4) Now that the toppings are cooking spread your nachos on an oven-proof tray. A layer of tinfoil is a good idea to make cleaning up easier. Spread a bit of salsa on the nachos and place them in the oven for 30 seconds.

Step 5) Now that the meat and vegetables have cooked, spread them evenly on top. Layer on your cheese and pop that baby back in the oven. It shouldn’t take much longer than 3-4 minutes to melt the cheese. As the cheese melts, cut up the tomatoes and jalapenos to sprinkle on top.

Boom, now this is what you call art.
